I've been wanting to not work in NYC for a while.
I applied to a few jobs recently.

One got me a phone call Monday...but I doubt it will go further (supposedly I have to talk to someone with dental problems...not sure when he'd be available.)

I got an e-mail thought about another one which sounded vague and set up an interview for tommorrow - I had taken a 1/2 day off to go to a show tommorrow night, but instead of errands I'll do the interview in the afternoon. I have to get a haircut and find something to wear now - I doubt any of my suits fit (to burlington coat factory across the street at lunch - I'll miss the easy shopping around here, but that's all)

This job would be 20 minutes from home. And if we ever get a house, our current daycare is on the way (more or less) so we could keep Alan there.

I want to go here:

There was an article on it in Budget Living Magazine (cool magazine, replaces Yahoo Internet Life as my favorite magazine)

Oh No

I got a call from Alan's daycare provider at work this AM...he'd fallen from the high chair and she took him to ER (some confusion on my part as to where he was when I called, but I did catch up with them after I got home on the bus.) He fell when she had her back turned for a second. He got a bruise on his head and sadly lost his bottom 2 front baby teeth with the top ones being loose (I have the lost ones in an envelope). We are home now, I gave him soft food to eat (he was very hungry, but couldn't suck a bottle comfortably) and he's sleeping. She was sorry and I'm not upset, these things happen. I now have to find a pediatric dentist for him and I'd never gotten dental for him - figuring I'd wait till he's 2 or 3 and had teeth. I just e-mailed to postpone my interview, I wouldn't be in a good frame of mind. I need to find something to eat for lunch, never got a chance to eat.

Tylenol (2 droppers, he was 23 lbs 10 oz!) every 4 hours and ice his bump every hour if I can.

He took it easy this afternoon. Two naps - I got him to take a bottle before bed, I switched to one of the Gerber ones I had with the smaller nipple rather than the Avent I usually use. He ate yogurt for dinner. But I couldn't ice the bump, he'd cry when I tried to put ice on.

I'm taking tommorow off to take him to a pediatric dentist. There's one in the next town. Since we don't have dental for him (we do for us - we figured we'd save since he wouldn't go to the dentist until age 2 or 3), I'm going to try to sign him up with a dental savings plan (www.dentalsavings.com) and then go. We only need it till December (open enrollment) or if I change jobs. (DH and I don't agree on our own dentists - he had a problem with mine and I don't know DH's recent find - so a pediatric dentist is best). Hopefully the dentist will check the top teeth (I hope they stay) and let me know when I can go back to giving Alan harder foods like his Gerber wagon wheels and other things he's started to chew.

His pediatrician called today and asked how he was doing and Nadia (day care lady) also called. I don't think we will do anything - it was an accident on her part, not intentional and she was really really sorry.

I think it has hit me now, as I'm very sad. I didn't want to get upset for Alan's sake earlier but it was hard to see him bloody and in pain and to try to hold him for X-Ray's which they ended up not taking anyway.

I recently had a long lost real life friend find me via LJ.
I found another one because she was one of her friends (in RL and LJ :))
Small world!
